Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (Now FUTI) Ranked No. 1 In Nigeria For Blackboard Implementation

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (FPI), now officially the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI), has achieved a remarkable milestone – emerging as Numero Uno among all Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education in Nigeria in the area of Blackboard implementation and adoption, as directed by the Federal Ministry of Education.

According to a report released by Pole Global Marketing (PGM) – an integrated consultancy and education solutions firm – in its latest Institution Ranking Report, the study provides a comparative assessment of institutions based on their performance across key engagement criteria.

The ranking was designed to spotlight institutions that meet or exceed digital platform adoption standards, while also identifying those requiring additional support to drive better usage and engagement.

PGM’s methodology evaluated each institution’s performance using five weighted criteria, aligned with the project’s adoption objectives.

Each institution received a percentage score based on performance against these weighted criteria.Institutions that surpassed the minimum adoption requirements scored higher, while those below the threshold recorded proportionally lower marks.

Institutions were ranked from highest to lowest overall weighted scores.The analysis identified the Top 10 institutions driving platform adoption and the Bottom 5 with the lowest engagement.

Below is the Top 10 list according to the report:

  1. Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro – 1
  2. Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo – 2
  3. University of Lagos, Akoka – 3
  4. Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto – 185
  5. Sokoto State University, Sokoto – 185
  6. Yobe State University, Damaturu – 5
  7. Federal Polytechnic, Ayede – 7
  8. Federal University, Otuoke – 8
  9. Yaba College of Technology, Yaba – 9
  10. Federal University, Gashua – 10

The following institutions were ranked lowest in Blackboard adoption and engagement:

  1. Kano State University of Science & Technology, Wudil – 185
  2. Yusuf Bala Usman College of Education and Legal Studies, Daura, Katsina State – 185
  3. Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru – 185
  4. Sa’adu Zungur University, Bauchi – 4
  5. Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science & Technology, Ikere-Ekiti – 5

In a heartfelt message to the Director of CICT, CICT staff, the Council, and the Polytechnic Community, the Rector of FPI, Alhaji (Dr.) Mukhail Akinde, expressed delight over the institution’s outstanding performance.

“With delight, I share with you our ranking as No. 1. This is good news as the current Management just marked our three years in office”, he said.

Akinde also extended appreciation to the Honourable Minister of Education and the Honourable Minister of State for Education, commending their visionary leadership and urging them to “keep the flag flying.”
