IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), on Monday, November 17, 2025, recorded a historic achievement as the Provost, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, celebrated Comrade Ikechukwu O. Achugbu, Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Colleges of Agriculture (ASUCA), on his emergence as the National Vice President, (South-West).
This remarkable accomplishment is the first of its kind in the history of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, marking a new chapter of recognition and leadership prominence for the Institution at the national level.
Comrade Achugbu is widely known for his dedication to academic leadership, his strong sense of responsibility, and his unwavering commitment to staff motivation and institutional growth.
His elevation to this national office stands as a testament to the quality of leaders nurtured within FCA Ibadan.
In his remarks, Prof. Atungwu praised Comrade Achugbu for his visionary leadership during his tenure as ASUCA Chairman, noting that his integrity, courage and passion for academic advancement distinguished him within the College community and beyond.
By attaining this national leadership role, Comrade Achugbu has not only brought pride to FCAIB but has also strengthened the Institution’s visibility across the South West.
His success served as a motivation to staff and students, reinforcing FCA Ibadan’s identity as a centre for exceptional talent and impactful leadership.
The Provost further reaffirmed that the entire FCAIB community stands firmly behind Comrade Achugbu, assuring him of continuous support as he undertakes this new national responsibility.
