ABEOKUTA – Women in the media industry have been urged to pay greater attention to their health through regular medical assessment, exercise and intake of balanced diets to enhance their physical and mental well-being.
An Expert in Healthcare Delivery, Mrs Morounmubo Adekunle gave the advice in a presentation on Stress Management Tips delivered at the monthly congress of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ogun State Chapter.
Mrs Adekunle, who is a Nursing Officer at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi Aba Abeokuta said the poor attitude of women to medical examinations, plus the burden of meeting the demands of their social and economic life were taking a toll on their healthy living.
The Chief Nursing Officer who noted that every challenge was surmountable advised the women to identify individual’s sources of stress and make conscious efforts to gradually shed the burden while embracing rest as a necessary therapy.
In a remark, the State Chairperson of NAWOJ, Mrs. Modupeola Sobukonla pointed out that the leadership of the association was concerned in particular about enhancing the health and welfare of members.
Mrs Sobukonla also promised that the regular Congress of the association would be a platform for adding value to the members through educative talks and trainings as well as celebration of all members having birthdays during the month.
