“EMULATE PROPHET MUHAMMED” – ILARO CHIEF IMAM ADEWUNMI CHARGES MUSLIMS ON GOOD DEEDS, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

BY ABU-SATAR HAMED

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Muslim faithful have been urged to consistently do good deeds and live responsible lives so that they will be remembered positively even after they depart this world.

This call was made by the Chief Imam of Ilaro Central Mosque, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, Imam (Sheik) Tajudeen Mustapha-Adewunmi, during his Jumat Service sermon on Friday, January 23, 2026.

The renowned Islamic scholar emphasized that every human being has a duty of responsibility that goes beyond their immediate family, extending to their wider family circle and all those whose paths they cross in life.

Imam Mustapha-Adewunmi lamented the gradual disappearance of the noble culture of the past, when well-to-do family members willingly took responsibility for the education and welfare of children from less-privileged backgrounds within the family.

According to him, such acts of kindness and communal support, once common, are now rare.

He explained that God blessed some individuals because of others, stressing that those who are fortunate have a divine obligation to care for the less-privileged – not only within their families, but also in the larger society.

The cleric further disclosed that during the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), the Prophet did not pray solely for himself but for the entire humanity, a blessing from which all continue to benefit today.

“We should all emulate Prophet Muhammad by striving for the betterment of the less-privileged people around us.

“I advise the Muslim faithful not to focus only on their immediate families alone, but to also remember their extended families in fulfilling their responsibilities in life”, he said.

Imam Mustapha-Adewunmi also charged the youth to pursue responsible living and contribute meaningfully to society through genuine, lawful, and crime-free means.

During the sermon, Imam Mustapha-Adewunmi offered fervent prayers for Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, other elected and appointed public office holders, as well as all sons and daughters of Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large, both at home and in the diaspora.

Imam Mustapha-Adewunmi concluded by admonishing the faithful to remain sincere and honest in all their actions and utterances, reminding them that everyone will ultimately give account of everything they do or say on earth.
