Eid-el-Adha: Governor Abiodun Greets Muslims, Calls For Sacrifice, Unity, Compassion

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has extended his warm felicitations to Muslims across the state and beyond as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Adha – a festival deeply rooted in the values of sacrifice, devotion, and compassion.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, from the state capital, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun reflected on the spiritual significance of the celebration, which commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering obedience in his willingness to sacrifice his son at God’s command.

The Governor urged Muslims to uphold the core teachings of Islam during this sacred period, particularly the virtues of selflessness and empathy for others.

“On this special occasion, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all Muslims observing Eid-el-Adha. This is a time of joy and celebration, but also one of deep reflection — a moment to reaffirm our commitment to the values of sacrifice, love, and generosity,” he said.

He encouraged citizens to embrace the spirit of giving, especially to those in need, emphasizing that the true meaning of the festival lies in sharing and caring for others.

“As we gather with loved ones, let us not forget those who are less fortunate. Let our celebrations be marked by kindness and acts of charity that uplift others,” the governor added.

Governor Abiodun also underscored the importance of interfaith harmony and peaceful coexistence, noting that Eid-el-Adha presents an opportunity to strengthen bonds across communities and promote mutual respect.

“In these trying times, may this celebration serve as a reminder of the strength found in unity. Let us continue to work together for a peaceful and progressive Ogun State,” he said.

He further called on security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure the safety of all residents throughout the festivities, while also urging the public to observe safety protocols for a safe and joyful celebration.

“I commend our security personnel and all essential workers for their steadfast dedication. Your efforts are appreciated and vital to our collective well-being.

“As we rejoice, let us do so responsibly, keeping the health and safety of ourselves and others in mind,” Governor Abiodun concluded.
