IJEBU-OMU – Egbe Tobalase Okunrin Akile Ijebu has renovated a block of toilets for the use of Omu Ajose Comprehensive High School, Omu, in Odogbolu Local Government area of Ogun State, just as the Giwa Egbe, AbdulAzeez Abiola Alausa disclosed that Regberegbe Groups in Ijebuland have gone beyond social affluence noting it was now mandatory for every Regberegbe to have a developmental project to showcase in the Awujale palace during the Ileya Festival.
According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l & online – www.startrendinternational.com by Damilare Majekodunmi Zonal Info Officer Ijebu Ode LG, Giwa Abiola Alausa stated this at the commissioning of the block of toilets at the school premises in Omu.
He maintained that government alone can not provide all the social amenities needed by the citizens, saying other Regberegbes and public spirited individuals should change the narratives for better and continue to give back to the society through life impacting projects.
“We decided to embarked on renovation of the toilet to ensure that students are not exposed to cholera and other diseases associated with unhealthy environment.
“The Renovation of a block of toilet at Omu Ajose Comprehensive High School was initiated by one of us who attended this school many years ago, Otunba-Balogun Yinka Sadiku and we have to rally round him. This is not our only project, we’ve renovated the Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque toilets last year. We are also giving scholarship to students at various levels of education and frequent donation of foods to motherless homes amongst others”, Alausa said.
Also speaking at the commissioning, the Transition Chairman, Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Obafemi Onakoya called on clubs and social organisations to make people around them feel their impacts in community development through Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR).
Hon. Onakoya who described the project as a kind gesture from the age grade, added that
it has continued to contribute to the development of Ijebuland, reburfing the notion that Regberegbe Groups are only for social affluence.
“I also belong to Maiyegun Age Grade, We have the project we do for the people in the society, Tobalase Okunrin Akile Ijebu has given back to the society by renovating the school toilet. The Government cannot do everything alone, hence the need for private organisations, clubs and associations to contribute their quota through Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR)”, Onakoya stated.
He said the renovation of the school toilets would improve the conducive learning environment for the students while he implored the school authority to ensure adequate cleanliness and maintenance of the facility.
In their remarks, the Senior School Principal, Mr Adesegun Onabote and the Head Girl of the school, Miss Yakub Himat appreciated the kind gesture, saying it would be an avenue for other stakeholders to awake in CSR, particularly in giving back to their Almamata.
