IBADAN – Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of StarTrend Int’l magazine and online – www.startrendinternational.com, Elhadj AbuSatar Idowu Hamed has been described as a journalist without a blemish and a kind-hearted man with the fear of God.
This accolades were showered on the veteran Journalist who have paid his dues in the journalism profession, having spent over four decades in the industry, at the second edition of presentation of the StarTrend Gold Award of Excellence to some dignitaries in commemoration of StarTrend Int’l magazine’s 10th Anniversary, on Sunday December 12, 2021 at the Press Centre, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Iyaganku, Ibadan in Oyo State.
Shortly after the event, the renowned journalist and Queen of Red Carpet, Mrs. Folashade Odunuga (Folaslim) interviewed some of the dignitaries at the event and they gave their different thoughts on the occasion. Enjoy!
Mr Muyiwa Apara in the interview said; “I’m more than happy for Elhadj AbuSatar Idowu Hamed than myself for coming up with this. I think other organizations should follow this trend, because I believe honours should be given to people who deserve it and would appreciate it.
“For the past forty decades that I’ve been in this industry, I’ve never been given any award of recognition. But I’m grateful and delighted that someone did this when I was alive and not when I’ve gone. Big ups to StarTrend and his organization.”
Prophet Omotoso Joseph Olawale was also of the opinion that he’s happy to be at the event, saying, “I’m here because I am part of the StarTrend family. I have also worked with Nigerian Tribune in the past. My word of encouragement to the boss of StarTrend Int’l Magazine is that he should continue doing what he knows best to doing well.
“I’m pleased with what I’ve seen here today. I’d also like the NUJ chairman to keep up the good works he has been doing since he was elected to take the mantle of leadership of Oyo NUJ”, the fuji superstar quips.
Alhaji Iyanda Sawaba also said; “StarTrend Int’l Magazine is a magazine known for fresh and juicy news. The Magazine and organisation will not go down. I’d like to appeal to people to always advertise and buy our magazines each time it’s out. Because, there is lots of useful informations you can get from the magazine.”
He also spoke glowingly about Elhadj AbuSatar Hamed, someone he said he has known for a long time.
“Its been long that I’ve known this wonderful man that had assisted many entertainment practutioners and socialites in this country.
“When he was at the rested Sketch Press Ltd in Ibadan, AbuSatar promoted many of us in his juicy entertainment/society columns in the Sketch, and he did all these without taken a kobo from us.
“AbuSatar was used by God for many artistes that are stars today, but I’m surprised that these people are not present at this event today to show their own appreciations for the man who was there for them, back in days. Anyway, God will everyone back in his or her own coins.
“He’s an amazing man. Someone who worked hard for others success. I pray that God pay him back in million folds and keeps him glowing.”
Rev. Apostolic Mother Abigail Oluremi Yiolokun said; “I am happy to be here today and my goodwill message is that Elhadj Idowu Hamed will keep glowing and his organization will continue to soar like the eagle.”
Uncle Toye Ajagun also said; “Elhadj AbuSatar Hamed is someone I’ve known for a long time and he is a good man. He is a responsible person and someone you can rely on. I pray he would grow old in more wisdom and he would eat the fruits of his labour.”
When asked how he came about the award presentation Elhadj AbuSatar Hamed responded; “Actually, this is the way we’re supposed to honour those who have contributed immensely to their various disciplines.
“It’s not about money or fame, but about genuine contributions to humanity. The award is special because it’s intended to motivate these set of individuals to do more in their various careers”, he retorted.
When asked about his motivation to organize this event, AbuSatar said; “My motivation to do this is about the positive way of life of some people in the society.
“It’s about doing the right things. I just believe in doing good things at all times. Though some people wouldn’t appreciate you for doing good, but as a British-trained and self-disciplined person I’ve learnt not to let the negative response of people to stop me from doing good.
“Some people have reached their peak of life and they’re looking for someone that would push them to the grave; hence you’re not to look back in your good ways of life.”
