Late Mr. Oluwadare Samuel Ekundayo.

’Dare Ekundayo’s Exit: A Painful Loss Of  An Inspiring Man Of Integrity, Whose Legacy Of Kindness, Support Lives On

Tribute:

 BY ABU-SATAR HAMED

Death, the cessation of life, will come either at birth or at old age. But when it comes at a time least expected to a beloved person, the impact of the sudden departure on those who knew him lingers for a while.

Candidly, I’m very short of words since the afternoon of Monday, March 10, 2025, when I heard the sad and painful news of the death of Mr. Oluwadare Samuel Ekundayo, fondly called Oyinbo, the renowned newspaper and magazine distributor at Ilaro-Yewa, headquarters of Ogun West, Nigeria.

Today, I’m in deep sorrow as I pay tribute to a remarkable man – ’Dare, whose light was tragically extinguished too soon. He embodied honesty, integrity, and transparency – qualities that made him a guiding light in a world that often struggles to hold on to them.

’Dare dedicated his life to his community, building relationships that went far beyond simple transactions. His newspaper stall was more than just a place of business; it was a community hub where stories came to life, laughter echoed, and connections were made.

In a world where trust is sometimes hard to find, ’Dare was a steadfast example of what it meant to live with integrity. He was a man of his word, offering not just newspapers and magazines but also encouragement, wisdom, and a genuine smile.

’Dare had an extraordinary gift of remembering each customer’s name, preferences, and personal details, making every visit feel like a heartfelt reunion.

’Dare’s influence extended far beyond his role as a newspaper and magazine distributor. Many journalists and aspiring writers in Yewaland owe their beginnings to his unwavering support. With an eye for talent, he was quick to promote the work of others, helping them reach audiences they might have otherwise missed. His belief in their potential changed lives and amplified voices that needed to be heard.

’Dare was not just a name; he was an embodiment of kindness, strength, and unwavering support. His laughter resonated like a melody that lifted the spirits of everyone around him. Whether it was with a warm smile or a comforting word, he had an incredible ability to make others feel seen and valued. ‘Dare had a gift for turning ordinary moments into lasting memories, and his generous spirit touched the lives of so many.

As I remember ’Dare’s legacy, I want us to celebrate not just the man who sold newspapers and magazines, but a youth and community leader, a confidant, and a quiet hero. He was woven into the very fabric of our lives and has left an irreplaceable void in our hearts and in the Yewa community.

May we find solace in the countless memories we shared and draw strength from the love that he infused into our lives. His spirit will forever brighten our paths, reminding us to cherish one another and to spread kindness, just as he did.

To his family and friends, we at Gangan Media Co. Ltd., publishers of StarTrend Int’l magazine and online platform, offer our deepest and heartfelt condolences. May the countless memories and the love he shared bring you comfort.

Mr. ’Dare Ekundayo’s spirit will continue to live on through the lives he touched, the stories he shared, and the values of integrity and kindness he instilled in those who came across him while on earth.

Dear Oluwadare, your legacy will forever inspire us and guide future generations toward the principles you held dear. Thank you for your service, friendship, and the light you brought into our business. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

Goodnight, Samuel Oluwadare. Sleep well, Al-Ekundayo, till we meet to part no more.
