…Reveals How Ex-Governor Amosun’s Administration Allegedly Demolished His Cement Factory Twice
ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Alhaji Aliko Dangote has reaffirmed his commitment to the revival of the Dangote Cement Plant in Itori, Ogun State, attributing the resumption of the project to the intervention of Governor Dapo Abiodun.
During a meeting on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Governor’s office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Dangote shared details of the setbacks he faced under the administration of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
According to Dangote, his $585 million cement plant in Itori was demolished twice under Amosun’s leadership, with the second demolition even destroying the factory’s fencing.
Despite these challenges, Dangote credited Governor Abiodun’s pro-business policies and strong leadership for restoring investor confidence, which ultimately paved the way for the resumption of the plant’s construction.
Dangote praised Governor Abiodun for encouraging him to return and continue the construction, with the plant now nearing completion and expected to commence operations next year.
The facility will feature two 6,000t/day clinker production lines, covering various stages including limestone crushing, cement packaging, and shipping.
This development will further establish Ogun State as an industrial powerhouse.
Set to become Dangote Cement’s fourth greenfield project in Nigeria, the Itori Cement Plant is poised to boost local production, create numerous jobs, and enhance Ogun State’s position as a leading industrial hub in the country.
