NEW YORK, USA – The Africa Center relaunched its capital campaign on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, in New York City, bringing together a host of influential figures from business, philanthropy, and culture
The event highlighted the center’s mission to strengthen ties between Africa and the global community, through art, policy, and innovation.
Among the prominent attendees were Aliko Dangote, President/Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL); Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; and Chelsea Clinton, Co-Chair of The Africa Center. Also in attendance were Mohammed Indimi, Chairman of Oriental Energy Resources, Fatima Aliko Dangote, Group Executive Director of DIL, and Laurie Cumbo, Commissioner for Cultural Affairs in New York City.
The relaunch was further supported by Benedict Oramah, Chairman of Afreximbank, reflecting the global importance of the Africa Center’s initiatives.
The Africa Center continues to play a pivotal role in reshaping narratives about Africa, promoting policy dialogue, and fostering economic opportunities for the continent. The capital campaign aims to expand the center’s capacity to support African innovation and cultural exchange on a global scale.
