ILARO-YEWA: Towards ameliorating the effects of the two week stay at home ordered by the Federal and Ogun state governments, the authority of the Yewa South Local Government in Ogun State has began the distribution of the state government’s donated food items and other relief materials to indigents citizens across the council area.

The Transition Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Rahmon Olabode Fagbenro while speaking with newsmen during the distribution of the palliative items in Ilaro, pointed out that the items which would be distributed to every ward of the council would start from the “poorest of the poor” of every community in each ward.

His words, “I want to assure you that the relief items will be properly distributed and well monitored. We are going to start from the indigents who are the ‘poorest of the poor’. These are the people who cannot afford a meal per day, those that if they do not go out in a day, they will not eat. They are the one that we are talking about.

“The items will be distributed to every ward of the local government with the help of the CDC and CDA leaders. Also, the religious and market leaders are going to be involved. They are all presently on ground and we are all going to work together to effectively carry out the Governor’s directive.

“All members of the local government’s palliative committee are here including officers of the Nigeria Police, Civil Defense and So Save Corps. So, the distribution is going to be devoid of politics. Our committee is nonpartisan. The food items will get to the targeted people, who are the ‘poorest of the poor”.
