ILARO-YEWA: Concerned by the welfare of his constituents, the Ogun State Commissioner For Budget and Planning, Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan has on Saturday, April 11, 2020 started the distribution of a large quantity of food items to the people of Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State to cushion effects of the second stanza of the lockdown.
Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan while fielding questions from StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com disclosed that distribution of the items was part of his contributions to assist people of the council area, especially the vulnerable at this period of coronavirus pandemic.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning further stated that the gesture was also aimed at supporting the concerted efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun in his quest to bring soccour to the citizens of the state at this trying period of Covid-19.
His words, “I’m distributing foods and other palliative items across the Yewa South Local Government area in a bid to ameliorate the sufferings of the people during this second stanza of the lockdown ordered by the Federal Government to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Hon. Olabimtan however, urged people of the Local Government to adhere strictly to the government’s advice of regular hand watching, maintaining social distance and hygienic environment, while advising them to abide with the stay at home order.
Appreciating the kind gesture of Hon. Olabimtan, the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Yewa South Local Government, Otunba Tunji Idowu Onigbami, expressed his gratitude and that of the entire people of the council area to Hon. Olabimtan for offering support to the people of Yewa South at this period, saying, “The Commissioner is well known for such act of kindness, even before he became a commissioner or when there was emergency.”
Otunba Tunji Idowu who noted that, the distribution of the items cut across the nooks and crannies of the council area regardless of tribes, political or religious affiliation, however called on other well meaning individuals in the area to emulate good gesture of the Commissioner, and assist people around them, most especially the less-privileged.
He also urged citizens of the council area and environ to keep to the government’s advice and obey the stay at home order to stop the spread of coronavirus.
Beneficiaries of the relief packages which include rice, beans, onions, noodles, groundnut oil, etc., expressed their appreciation to Hon. Olabimtan, in making sure the less-privileged people of the local government area have something to hold on to during the second stanza of the lockdown in Ogun State.
It will be recalled that the Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan recently distributed over 1,000 hand sanitizers to the citizens of Yewa South Local Government, apparently to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the state and Nigeria at large.
