COVID-19 Lockdown Update: Ogun Civil Defence Demarcates Banks, Assures State Government Of Implementing Social Distancing….Decontaminates Command, Environs

ABEOKUTA: Consequent upon the upsurge of crowd in various banks in Abeokuta metropolis during lockdown relaxation windows, the Ogun State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has launched a special operations to ensure social/physical distancing during banking hours.

According to a press release e-signed on behalf of Alhaji Hammed Abodunrin, the State Commandant, and made availabile to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Dyke Ogbonnaya, State Public Relations Executive, Alhaji Abodunrin, had consequently directed that a professional implementation of the physical distancing order meant to flatten the curve of the virus in Nigeria be immediately embarked upon.

To this end, he had directed the Command’s Disaster Management and Technical Departments to ensure that a professional demarcation of Bank premises be immediately done in tandem with the government’s directives.

Against another relaxation window across the state tomorrow, the State Commandant personally supervised the demarcation at various Banks premises to ensure compliance.

“Civil Defence prevents disasters. This Operations Stay at Distance (OSaD) is aimed at ensuring physical distancing and it will be done in the most civil manner” the commandant declared.

In a related development, the Command has also acquired the machine for regular disinfection of its headquarters premises and other formations of the Command as may be necessary.

The Commandant noted that as an agency that may have to arrest and detain suspects for high profile crimes such as vandalisation and oil theft, regular disinfection is inevitable.

He disclosed further that while the Command procured the machine, the Ogun State Ministry of Environment supplied the appropriate specification of the right chemicals and disinfectants free of charge.

The State Command has keyed into this opportunity by also training some of its disaster management personnel on the professional and skilful ways of disinfecting their environment without having the recourse to invite the State Ministry of Environment every time.

Abodunrin then assures the State Government of the Command’s prompt responses during this pandemic period and beyond, all in the bid to make sure that the dreams and aspirations of the government are achieved.
