ILARO-YEWA: A Joint Technical Task Committee on COVID-19 Emergency Response To Challenges Of Movement Of Food & Agricultural Products/Inputs, in Yewa South Local Government Area, has been inaugurated by the Ilaro Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police, (ACP), Chris Adeyeri, at the LG headquarters, Ilaro.
According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Aregbesola Tunde, Information officer, Yewa South Local Government, Ilaro, ACP Adeyeri while speaking during the inauguration disclosed that the committee was established sequel to the directive from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development, Abuja, for the replication of the Committee at both the State and Local Government levels, for the main purpose of ensuring the free movement of food and agricultural products/inputs, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition, the Committee members, according to ACP Adeyeri, would, during their periodical meetings, be discussing the challenges that might likely face or hinder the free movement of food and agricultural products/inputs, as well as proffered solutions.
ACP Chris Adeyeri, however, used the occasion to reiterate the existing federal government nationwide 8:00pm to 6:00am curfew, admonishing everyone not to take the advantage of government policy, on movement of food and agricultural products/inputs, to flout the Federal government restriction order, warning that anyone caught in violation would face the wrath of the law.
The Area Commander, finally charged all transport workers and road users to be law abiding by being courteous to law enforcement agents and endeavour to obey traffic rules and regulations, while on the road.
Members of the inaugurated Joint Technical Task Committee were drawn from all the stakeholders, including; the Nigeria Police, with ACP Chris Adeyeri as the Chairman, Civil Defense Corp, (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corp, (FRSC), Nigeria Union Of Journalists, (NUJ), Transport Unions (NURTW & RTEAN), All Farmers Associations, (AFA), with the L.G Director of Agriculture & Natural Resources, Mr. Wole Fateru, as the Secretary to the Committee.
