LAGOS, NIGERIA – Commuters and motorists have called on Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to urgently wade into the persistent hardship on the Sango-Ota-Abeokuta corridor, following a severe traffic paralysis caused by two trucks in the evening of Saturday, November 22, 2025.

The gridlock, which lasted for over four hours between Pakoto and Ilepa in Ifo Local Government Area, occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2025, after a lorry loaded with granite broke down around 10:00 a.m on Saturday, November 22, 2025.

Witnesses said the vehicle remained unattended for several hours, with no immediate attempt by the owners to clear it from the road.

It was not until about 6:30 p.m. that another truck arrived to offload the granite.
The transfer operation – initially supervised by security personnel – completely blocked both lanes of the ever-busy Sango-Ota-Ifo expressway, leaving commuters stranded and frustrated.

Road users later alleged that the security officers abandoned the scene without ensuring smooth traffic control.

Angered by the avoidable chaos, commuters condemned what they described as the negligent and insensitive attitude of the truck owners, whose delay worsened the already difficult traffic conditions in the area.

They appealed to Governor Abiodun to instruct contractors handling the Sango-Ota-Abeokuta road project to speed up their work in order to alleviate the daily suffering of residents, traders, and travelers who rely on the route.

Commuters further urged the state government to carry out urgent palliative repairs on the heavily damaged sections of the road to avert a repeat of the harrowing experience – especially as the Christmas and New Year holidays draw near.
