Clerics, Others Eulogize Late Alhaji Wasiu Adebiyi’s Virtues, Describing Him Complete Gentleman (+photos)

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Muslim faithful have been reminded to always be prepared for death by doing good deeds while alive.

This call was made during the 8-day Fidau prayer for the late Alhaji Wasiu Adebiyi, who died on Monday, May 13, 2024, after a brief illness.

Speaking at the event on Monday, May 20, 2024, Imam Badmus Adegbite, the Chief Imam of Ansar-Ud-Deen Mosque, Ilaro branch, emphasized that wealth and positions will not follow anyone to the grave.

Imam Adegbite, who also serves as the Chief Imam for the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Yewa, Ogun State, stated, “Our good deeds and adherence to the five pillars of Islam will be our companions in the grave till the day of judgment.

“Even our wives, husbands, children, relatives, and friends will only depart us immediately we’re committed to the mother earth.”

The Islamic scholar described Alhaji Wasiu Adebiyi as a complete gentleman who lived a fulfilled life.

He disclosed that they attended the same institution in Ota, Ogun State, and maintained a close relationship from the day they met until Adebiyi’s passing.

Imam Adegbite urged Adebiyi’s children to remain united and uphold the family bond, advising Hon. Wariz Adebiyi, the deceased’s eldest son, to ensure the family’s cohesion.

In his sermon, Imam Isiaka Dawud of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque, Oke Ola Ilaro-Yewa, reinforced the message that death is inevitable and unannounced.

He encouraged Muslim faithful to adhere to the five pillars of Islam and to do good to their family, friends, relatives, and neighbours, reminding them that everyone will account for their lives on judgment day.

Imam Sabuir Toriola of Ansar-Ud-Deen Central Mosque, Oke-Ela, Ilaro-Yewa, led the audience in a special prayer for the deceased.

Alhaji Sabuir Taiwo Olayanju, an aide to the Chief Imam of Ilaro Central Mosque, recited Ayat Yassin for Adebiyi and his family.

Imam Habeebullah Abdul-Rasheed of Al-Khaleel Central Mosque, Pahayi, Ilaro-Yewa, in his brief sermon, advised Muslims to be kind to those around them, likening kindness to a seed that will yield future rewards.

He urged Muslims to spend in the propagation of Islam, noting that there are rewards both in this world and on judgment day.

The clerics offered special prayers for the peaceful repose of Alhaji Wasiu Adebiyi and for God’s protection over his surviving family members.

Engr. Kayode Salako, President of the Recreation Club, Ilaro, to which Adebiyi belonged, eulogized the deceased, highlighting his honesty and dedication.

He noted that Adebiyi had served the club in various capacities, including as Treasurer until his death.

The event was attended by many dignitaries who came to pay their last respects.
