ILARO-YEWA – Late Mrs. Olubunmi Solakunmi Ojo, nee Ajose of Lagos has been described as a woman who spent her lifetime to the service of God and humanity.
Rt. Rev. S.O. Ogunyemi, the Lord Bishop of United African Methodist Church (UAMC), Yewa Diocese, stated this at the burial service for Late Mrs. Olubunmi Solakunmi Ojo, nee Ajose of Lagos on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the United African Methodist Church, Leslie Road, Ilaro-Yewa, headquarters of Ogun West.
The cleric who conducted the service under the auspices of His Eminence, The Most Rev’d J.A. Oja Oba (JP), Primate, UAMC, Worldwide, reminded the congregation that every human being shall give account of he or her deeds on earth.
He however asked the congregation where they would spend their eternity, saying it’s left to each and everyone to choose how he or she wanted to live in life; “Is it in Paradise or hell fire would you wand to live?
His words, “No matter the position we hold on earth, we should all remember that we shall stand before God on the judgement day. I mean, both the young and old shall stand before the throne of judgement.
“It’s advisable that while we’re still alive we should remember our Creator, worship Him sincerely, and also accept Jesus as our personal Savior.
“You have to remember your Creator when you’re still very active. Serve Him diligently, obey His rules and commandments; for we shall all give account of our stewardship, either in Paradise or hell fire.”
Rt. Rev. Ogunyemi however advised children of the deceased not to depart from the righteous path their mother took in the Christianson, saying, “Late Mrs. Olubunmi Solakunmi Ojo, served God and humanity wholeheartedly, during her lifetime.”
Hon. Justice Mobolaji Ojo, his siblings and family however used the event to remember their father, Late Mr. Abraham Babatunde Ojo of Olaokun (Papanla) family of Ilaro who also died in London 25year ago, and buried in Ilaro.
While giving his vote of thanks, Hon. Justice Mobolaji Ojo, President, Ogun State Customary Court of Appeal thanked God, the Olaokun (Papanla) family of Ilaro and his colleagues in the judiciary and those that stood by him and the family to give their mother a befitting burial.
Hon. Justice Mobolaji Ojo prayed that “God bless everyone that participated in the ceremonies, gives you all good health and long life. Omo rere ni yio gbehin gbogbo wa o.”
The burial ceremonies started on Thursday, April 15, 2021 with a wake keep at Hon. Justice Mobolaji Ojo’s GRA, Ilaro residence, and the event was conducted by the clerics from the United African Methodist Church, Leslie Road, Ilaro-Yewa, headquarters of Ogun West.
Those that gave testimonies about the deceased at the wake keep commended her virtues of a good woman and a mother to behold.
Burial Service took place on Friday, April 16, 2021 at the United African Methodist Church, Leslie Road, Ilaro-Yewa, under the auspices of His Eminence, The Most Rev’d J.A. Oja Oba (JP), Primate, UAMC, Worldwide, while Rt. Rev. S.O. Ogunyemi, the Lord Bishop of Yewa Diocese of UAMC and other clerics conducted the service.
Late Mrs. Olubunmi Solakunmi Ojo, nee Ajose of Lagos who died in January 2021 in London is survived by children, grandchildren and relatives.
Guests were later entertained after interment at the ultra-modern haven – Yewa Frontier Hotel, situated along Ilaro-Ibese Road, Ilaro, Ogun State.
The event was graced by cream of the society which include Royal Fathers, led by Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, the Olu-in-Council of Ilaro, Hon. Justices from within and outside Ogun State, Heads of Corporate organisations, clubs and associations which include Yewa Metropolitan Club and Recreation Club, Ilaro among a host of others.
Late Mrs. Olubunmi Solakunmi Ojo was born on December 8, 1935 in Lagos to late Pa Solomon Solakunmi Ajose of Iga Agarawu and Madam Comfort Abebi Ajose.
After her elementary education, the young Comfort Olubunmi attended Methodist Girls High School, Yaba, Lagos for her secondary education. Mrs. Olubunmi Ojo had always wanted to be a Nurse due to her caring and loving heart; hence she embarked in the training.
After graduating from the nursing training, she got married to late Mr. Abraham Babatunde Ojo of Olaokun (Papanla) family, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, who was then a teacher at UAMC (Elena) Primary School, Ebutte-Metta, Lagos.
Then the couple was living at Strachan Street, (now) Herbert Macaulay) Way, Olopomerin, Ebutte-Metta, Lagos, before they traveled to the United Kingdom.
After arriving UK between late 50s and early 60s, Mrs. Olubunmi Ojo commenced her studies in Nursing at Leeds General Infirmary (Leeds General Hospital), one of the largest and prestigious teaching hospital in England.
