A call has gone to those who are in positions of authority or blessed with affluent to always remember the less-privileged in the society.
This advice was given by Rt. Revd. D.O. Oladele, the Diocesan, Bishop of Egba-Yewa Diocese of the First African Church Mission (INC) on Saturday, May 13, 2023 during his sermon at the final burial ceremony of Mrs. Abigael Erinola Amoke Babatunde Animashaun (nee Sodipo) mother of Chief (Hon) Mrs. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi (nee Animashaun), the Honourable member, representing Yewa State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA).
In his sermon, titled, “The Essence of Life”, Revd. Oladele at the event that took place at the First African Church Mission (INC), Ebenezer Parish, Ipaja, via Idogo in Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State, enjoined people who are in vintage position to always remember their communities by lifting them up as God lifted them.
His words, “Let me use the opportunity of this occasion to remind us, most especially those who are blessed and also in position of authority among us to live an impactful life by helping the less-privileged in their communities.
“We should remember that the blessing is from God, and He gave the chosen ones amongst the multitude; hence we should always share some of it with the have-nots in our midst.
“Without mincing words, the economic situation in the country is very harsh, but it’s much more harsh for the people at the grassroots; hence the need for those who are blessed to come to their aid by giving them a lease of life.”
The clergyman was of the opinion that the government alone cannot do everything for its citizenry, stressing, “that’s why kind-hearted people should support the government by impacting positively on the less-privileged people amongst us.”
Revd. Oladele commended Chief (Hon) Mrs. Ajayi for taking care of her mother till she had the last breath on earth, paying that her own children will do the same for her.
He however urged Chief (Hon) Mrs. Ajayi not to depart from the role her mother played in the Christendom, adding that she should continue to impact positively on the people of Ipaja-Yewa and the church.
Revd. Oladele prayed that God grant the deceased eternal rest and give her children, grandchildren and relatives the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
In her response Chief (Hon) Mrs. Ajayi thanked the priests, choirs and the congregation for giving her mother a befitting service, praying that each and everyone shall survive their parents.
She also expressed her gratitude to the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, his wife – Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the Rt. Hon. Olakunle Taiwo Oluomo, Hon.
