EBUTE-IGBOORO, YEWA NORTH, OGUN, NIGERIA – The Imam of Al-Khaleel Central Mosque, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State, Chief Imam Abeebllah, has emphasized that death is inevitable and will come regardless of anyone’s power, fame, wealth, stinginess, headstrongness, or brilliance.
Imam Abeebllah made this statement during his sermon at the 8-Day Fidau Prayer in honor of Chief Wahab Egungbohun,
father of Hon. Haruna Wahab Egungbohun, Member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Ketu II State Constituency, on Tuesday, July 17, 2024.
He advised the bereaved and sympathizers to continue to emulate the deceased in their service to the Almighty Allah.
Imam Abeebllah described the late Chief Wahab Egungbohun as a good example of someone who prioritized the will of Allah in his life, adding that people should reflect on their actions and make necessary adjustments.
“It’s high time some of us made necessary adjustments in our lives to please Allah because death is inevitable. When it strikes, regardless of your power, fame, wealth, stinginess, headstrongness, or brilliance, death will one day tame you,” he warned.
The Islamic cleric recounted several instances in which the late Otunba of Ebute-Igbooro, also father to Mr. Rauf Egungbohun, Personal Assistant to Alhaji Ibrahim Egungbohun (IBD), excelled in displaying humanity.
He noted that the late Chief Wahab Egungbohun was a role model from whom the freight forwarder, Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD Dende), learned his philanthropic lifestyle.
Imam Abeebllah further stated that it is worthwhile to live in accordance with Allah’s teachings as severe hardship awaits those who disregard Allah’s commandments.
He illustrated his sermon with a scenario depicting the conditions in which the deceased might find themselves.
“Prophet Muhammad saw a dead person being carried to their grave. He said, it’s either the deceased was removed or retired.
“A righteous man will rest (retired) in death, but the unrighteous will be removed from their grave for punishment. Everything good will stop functioning in them; in fact, neighbours will eventually be happier,” he noted.
Imam Abeebllah prayed that the Almighty Allah accept all the Yasins recited in favour of the late Alhaji Wahab Egungbohun’s gentle soul.
The Islamic scholar however urged families – both immediate and extended – kinsmen, friends, and colleagues of Chief Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun (IBD) to continue beseeching Allah to grant him good health and long life.
