LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Celebrity Journal Publishers Association of Nigeria (CJPAN) held its executive election on Monday, June 16, 2025.
Following a successful and transparent process, Funmi Olowosegun of Buzz News emerged as the newly elected President of the association.
Olowosegun, who previously served as the Vice President of CJPAN, clinched victory by securing 11 out of the 16 total votes cast.
Her opponent, Oluwaseun Samson Fabiyi of Bethnews Magazine, received 5 votes, marking a clear win for the new President.
The election, which was conducted through both physical and online voting, was coordinated by CJPAN’s Electoral Chairman, Ebenezer Ojo.
The result was officially announced by Bunmi Obarotimi, who affirmed the outcome by declaring, “In my capacity as Electoral Chairman, I am pleased to declare Mrs. Funmi Olowosegun the winner of this presidential election.”
Other executive positions were filled unopposed. Those elected include: Tony Okpe, African Custodian Magazine – Vice President; Akin Shokoya, Giraffe Magazine – Treasurer; Adaobi Promise, Blissful Affairs Magazine – Financial Secretary and Sunday Adeyemi, Society Herald Magazine – Provost.
The newly constituted executive team is expected to drive the association’s objectives forward, fostering greater unity and professionalism within Nigeria’s celebrity journalism landscape.
