Legacy of the late veteran actor and filmmaker, Adeyemi “Adelove” Afolayan, lives on through his children and sister, who have continued to make significant contributions to Nigeria’s Nollywood.
From acting to directing and producing, the Afolayan name remains a force in the Nigerian film industry.
Kunle Afolayan, born in 1974, started his career as a banker before venturing into acting. He gained national attention in 1999 for his role as Arasejabata in Tunde Kelani’s political satire, Saworoide.
Today, Kunle is known as one of Nollywood’s most respected big-budget filmmakers. His notable works include Mokalik, Phone Swap, Irapada, andOctober 1st.
Besides producing, he also directs most of his films, earning acclaim for his cinematic style and storytelling.
Moji Afolayan, born in 1969, is one of the daughters of Adelove. Though she studied to become a teacher, her passion for acting led her to the film industry at an early age.
She rose to fame after starring alongside Dele Odule in the movie Arinjo. Moji has since appeared in many Nollywood productions.
She is married to fellow actor and filmmaker, Razak Olayiwola.
Born in 1975, Aremu Afolayan has made his mark as both an actor and director. His breakout role came in 2009 with the movie Idamu Akoto, which earned him wide recognition in Nollywood.
He is married to Kafilat Quadri, and they have a daughter together. Known for his creativity behind and in front of the camera, Aremu continues to contribute to the family’s filmmaking tradition.
Gabriel Afolayan, born in 1985, is another prominent child of Adelove. He began acting at a young age, making his debut in F’opawon, a film by legendary comedian Moses Olaiya (Babasala).
A versatile talent, Gabriel has starred in numerous films including HoodRush, 7 Inch Curve, Ojuju, Ija Okan, and Okafor’s Law.

A graduate of Theatre Arts from the University of Ibadan, Gabriel is also a musician, following in his late father’s footsteps.
Lola Afolayan, popularly known as Lola Idije, is the younger sister of the late Adeyemi “Adelove” Afolayan.
She rose to fame in 1995 through her role in the hit Yoruba movie Lola Idije, which gave her the nickname she is known by today.
Now in her 60s, Lola has remained active in the industry, appearing in several Yoruba films such as Iyawo Oko Elenini, Alatakun, and Alagbato.
Widowed at a young age, she is widely respected as one of Nollywood’s veteran actresses.
