IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – The final burial arrangements for the late Chief Yemi Ogunyemi, Baale of Oluyole-Ibadan, will commence on Thursday, July 17, 2025, with Cultural & Media Tributes to be held at his palace in Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to a statement from the family made available to the media, Special Juma’ah Prayers will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Oluyole Central Mosque, located in Oluyole, Ibadan.
The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan. This will be followed by a Thanksgiving Service at the same church on Sunday, July 20, 2025, marking the conclusion of the burial rites.
Chief Yemi Ogunyemi was not only the Baale of Oluyole-Ibadan, but also a respected member of the Ibadan South West Traditional Council, where he played key roles in local leadership and cultural preservation.
Renowned for his outstanding contributions to the Nigerian media industry, Chief Ogunyemi was a true luminary.
He was widely celebrated during the golden era of Nigerian television for his exceptional broadcasting talent.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Chief Ogunyemi rose to national fame as the charismatic host of “Enbalaya” on NTA Ibadan.
The programme was critically acclaimed, earning him enduring recognition and affection from audiences across Nigeria.
Chief Ogunyemi’s influence extended far beyond broadcasting. He was loved for his warmth, humility, and generosity.
More than a media personality, Chief Ogunyemi was a beloved son of Ibadanland and an embodiment of community spirit.
Known as a sincere, dependable, and gracious friend, Chief Ogunyemi brought comfort and strength to those around him.
