LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Chairman of Dangote Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Aliko Dangote has revealed that many people are still unaware that he established the Dangote Academy, an institution fully dedicated to training the next generation of African leaders, engineers, technicians, and professionals capable of driving industrial growth across the continent.

In a recent post on his LinkedIn wall, Africa’s richest man emphasized that his life’s mission has never been solely about constructing factories or developing infrastructure.

According to him, “My goal has always been deeper – to build competent, autonomous, and visionary human beings capable of sustainably transforming Africa.”

Highlighting his commitment to human capital development, Dangote reiterated, “Many are still unaware that we created the Dangote Academy, an institution entirely dedicated to training the next generation of African leaders, engineers, technicians, and professionals capable of advancing industry on our continent.”

He further explained that the academy is designed to be a center of excellence accessible to all, completely free of charge, ensuring that quality education and professional development are available without financial barriers.

Dangote outlined the wide range of world-class facilities available at the academy, including:

The billionaire industrialist described the academy as the heart of his integrated vision for Africa’s future.

He concluded with a powerful message about self-reliance and empowerment, “Building Africa starts with Africans. And it all starts with education, discipline, and competence.”

It would be recalled that the Dangote Academy inaugurated the Junior Technicians Scheme (JTS) Batches 3 and 4, comprising a total of 100 trainees, on Monday, March 13, 2018.

The initiative further demonstrates the Academy’s dedication to empowering young Nigerians with technical and industrial skills relevant to national development.

According to the Academy, JTS Batch 3 was a regular programme, featuring candidates drawn from across Nigeria, reflecting the inclusive nature of the training scheme.

In contrast, JTS Batch 4 served as a special intervention programme designed by the Dangote Group to support the Obajana and Ibese-Yewa host communities.

This batch specifically focused on equipping local youth with technical and entrepreneurial skills, thereby enhancing their employability and productivity within Nigeria’s growing industrial sector.

The Academy’s training and employment scheme targets various categories of engineers, including Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, and Mining Engineers.
