BIRTH ATTENDANTS IN OGUN ADVISED TO TAP INTO GOVT’S INITIATIVES

ABEOKUTA – The Ogun State Government has advised Birth Attendants operating in the State to utilize the windows of opportunity provided by the government to enhance their practice.

According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l & online – www.startrendinternational.com by Dolapo Jinad, Press Officer, Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board, Chairman of the State Alternate Medicine Board, Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye gave the advice at a One Day training workshop held recently in Ifo for Birth Attendants in ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. The similar workshop had earlier been held in Abeokuta, Oke-Odan.

Balogun Olaleye, while speaking at the event, said government is working to ensure a hitch free child birth, saying, “We have been doing everything possible to create awareness to ensure that every practitioner in the state is captured in the ongoing registration and re-orientation/training on modern practice of Alternate Medicine, with special focus on activities of Birth Attendants, for safe motherhood”.

He stated that data base of Alternate Medicine practitioners would be given utmost priority to detect quacks, as well as sanitize the sub-sector, enjoining members to tidy up their registration process.

Appreciating the State government on behalf of other participants, Mrs. Mopelola Babatunde and Tajudeen Olaiya affirmed that the training had broaden their knowledge for better service delivery, promising their cooperation with the Board.
