LAGOS – Jimmy Odukoya, the offspring of the late pastor who co-founded the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos, assumed the role of Senior Pastor on September 30, 2023, while his sister, Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun, was appointed as the associate senior pastor.
The church installation ceremony took place at its Ilupeju, Lagos headquarters and witnessed the presence of prominent figures in the Christian community, including Presiding Bishop Mike Okonkwo of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission, his wife Peace, President Wale Oke of The Sword of the Spirit Ministries, and Senior Pastor Yomi Kasali of Foundation of Truth Assembly.
During his sermon, Okonkwo fondly remembered the humility of the late Taiwo Odukoya and commended the church for honoring him with a fitting burial.
He emphasized, “God used Pastor Taiwo and Bimbo Odukoya to establish this church, and God is our cornerstone. They dedicated their years to honoring God, and God has rewarded them abundantly.”
The formal installation of the new church leaders was conducted by Okonkwo, often referred to as the “grandfather” of the church, and had played a significant role in the church’s inception by praying for Taiwo and guiding him throughout the years.
Okonkwo reflected, “I remember many years ago, my wife and I laid hands on your parents when this church began, and today, we are also laying hands on both of you. God doesn’t use perfect instruments; He chooses those who may appear unqualified in the natural eye.”
Jimmy, in a heartfelt voice, offered prayers to God, expressing, “As your son, I want to say ‘thank you.’ You have witnessed the entirety of who I am and have placed me in this position. It’s solely by your grace that I am here.
“Thank you for making me a part of Pastor Taiwo and Bimbo Odukoya’s family and for allowing me to carry their name.
“They stood firm and carried your banner even in the face of adversity until their last breath. Beyond the title, you saw me as worthy.”
