…Entertainment Skit Misinterpreted As Native Consultation
AKWA, ANAMBRA STATE, NIGERIA – The Anambra State Government has strongly refuted circulating claims suggesting that Governor Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, consulted a native doctor concerning his reelection bid.
The allegations, described as malicious and deliberately fabricated, stem from an online publication and related social media commentary.
The State Government categorically debunked the claims, labeling them as entirely false and misleading.
According to Christian Aburime, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, “the video clip currently being circulated was grossly misrepresented.
“It was, in reality, taken during a recent official government meeting with Anambra-based content creators – not a native doctor consultation, as alleged.
“The session was organized by the Special Senior Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Mazi Ejimofor Opara. Its objective was to deepen collaboration between the State Government and the local creative industry. This initiative is a part of Governor Soludo’s ongoing commitment to encouraging and supporting Anambra’s creative economy.”
During the interactive meeting, Aburime said, “content creators were given a platform to express their talents, raise questions, and voice concerns about the creative industry in Anambra.”
Aburime continued, “As part of the event, one of the content creators performed a comic skit portraying a native doctor – a genre commonly used in Nigerian entertainment.
“This performance was intended to demonstrate the creator’s artistic talent to the Governor and other government officials in attendance. It was purely an entertainment act, not a native doctor consultation.”
The State Government expressed deep disappointment over the actions of critics and political opponents, who, it said, maliciously twisted an innocent performance into a false narrative to mislead the public.
“Rather than engage in superstition or unfounded consultations, Governor Soludo has shown steadfast dedication to developing Anambra’s creative economy. This includes strategic investment plans aimed at economic diversification.
“One such example is the recently commissioned SOLUTION FUN CITY project”, Aburime noted.
The Government clarified that Governor Soludo does not depend on native doctor consultations to secure reelection.
“His confidence rests solely on the backing of Ndi Anambra, grounded in his proven record of performance and his focus on delivering the SOLUTION AGENDA – transforming Anambra into a livable and prosperous homeland.
“The Anambra State Government is calling on Ndi Anambra, media outlets, and social media users to disregard the false claims surrounding the video. Citizens are encouraged to verify information before sharing and to reject malicious narratives designed to deceive the public.
“As always, Governor Soludo remains committed to the development of Anambra State and will not be deterred by the antics of desperate political opponents who have chosen the path of falsehood over constructive engagement,” the Government concluded.
