
ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, has taken decisive action in response to the alleged assault of one of its members, journalist Olajide Osoba, by individuals believed to be students and members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun State chapter.
As a direct consequence of the incident, the NUJ has announced a temporary suspension of all media coverage related to NANS activities within Ogun State.
The move is intended to prompt accountability and ensure a full and thorough investigation into the alleged attack.
In an official statement e-signed and circulated by Bunmi Adigun, Secretary of the NUJ Ogun State Council, the Union condemned the incident and raised alarm over the increasing risks faced by journalists in the line of duty.
The NUJ condemned the attack and called for immediate accountability for those responsible.
NUJ leadership emphasized that the safety of journalists is paramount and vowed to protect the interests of its members.
They urged NANS to cooperate in the investigation and ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
