OWO – Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, has described his re-election for a second term in office as an eloquent testimony to the degree of his acceptance by the people of the state.
Akeredolu while expressing his gratitude to the people, said his victory at the poll affirmed that the confidence reposed in his administration by the people remains unshaken.
The Governor, alongside his wife, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, in his victory speech from his residence in Owo, his hometown, noted that his victory was made possible through the grace of the Almighty God.
Among dignitaries at the Governor’s residence include Gboyega Oyetola (Osun State Governor), Yahaya Bello (Kogi State Governor), Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos State Governor), Dr. John Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti State Governor), Senator Ibikunle Amosun (former Governor of Ogun State), Senator Tayo Alasoadura (Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs) among other leaders of the APC.
His words, “The renewal of our mandate in this election is an eloquent testimony to the degree of acceptance by you, the good people of Ondo State.
“It affirms that the confidence reposed in our Administration remains unshaken. It is a statement on your assessment of our performance in the last three and a half years.
“It is unequivocal, direct, inspiring and soul-lifting. It is awesome. It is a reward for hard work, dedication, focus, honesty and patriotism.”
Governor Akeredolu assured that his administration will not be distracted in the discharge of its sacred mandate, adding that people will continue to be at the centre of all its decisions.
He continued, “We will proceed with our administrative style which promotes transparency and accountability. We are determined to set our State, progressively, on the path of real development. Self-reliance is attainable.
“Our State has no business with poverty. Sincere, purposeful and focused leadership should have little difficulty in harnessing the vast resources, both human and natural. We will put in everything to justify the trust reposed in us.“
While congratulating the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Eyitayo Jegede SAN, for participating in the election, Governor Akeredolu described Jegede as a worthy adversary whose patriotism is not in doubt.
He appreciated President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for their support and love and saluted the President’s courage in the defence of the tenets of democracy.
Governor Akeredolu also thanked the Chairman and members of the Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni, the Chairman of National Campaign Council, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his brother Governors, Chairman of the APC in the state Engr. Ade Adetimehin, INEC, Security agencies and the Journalists.
