LAGOS: The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 2 Command, HQ, Onikan, Lagos, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, psp(+), has assured the people of his command that Police will ensure maximum security of lives and property.
According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com from the Media & Public Relations Office of CMC Gladiators of Repute, AIG Iliyasu stated this on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, during his tour of Kara, the border between Lagos and Ogun State, and the interchange to monitor and assess the level of compliance to the Federal and state government’s lockdown order among the citizens.
AIG Iliyasu who was accompanied by two of the finest, reputable and senior Police Officers, CP Hakeem Odumosu of Lagos State Command, and CP Kenneth Ebrimson – Ogun State Command promised that the police will continue to ensure security of lives and property now and even after the coronavirus issues elapsed.
AIG Iliyasu, also pleaded with members of the public to stay calm and abide by the directives and orders from the authorities, saying, “the lockdown is not a punishment, but to control the spread and manifestation of the deadly virus.
“The lockdown is mainly for the best interest of everyone; the police and other security agencies are at work to ensure sanity and to make sure the country’s economy, institutions, diplomatic missions and all interests are protected.”
AIG Iliyasu in strong terms warned criminals who may want to use opportunity of the present situation to engage in any criminal activity or involve in the breakdown of peace and order that his men are battle ready to ensure none of these acts and offenses goes unchecked.
He thanked members of the press for their cooperation and good work, adding, “This is not a time for negative journalism which may create an unsettling atmosphere and make things worse.”
AIG Iliyasu further stated that “Together we will defeat this pandemic and this difficult time will be a thing of the past.”
The Lagos State, CP. Hkeem Odumosu and his Ogun counterpart, Kenneth Ebrimson also re-affirmed their pledges to always complement the good legacy of IGP Ibrahim Adamu, the Inspector General of Police and AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, promising that the two states would not relent in joint policing, especially at this crucial stage of Covid-19 in the country.
Also addressing journalists after the tour, the multiple award-winning publicists & PR strategist, Amb. Cornel Udofia, commended AIG Iliyasu for embarking on a tour of his area command to monitor and access the level of compliance of the Federal and state government lockdown order.
Ambassador Cornell said that, AIG Ahmed Iliaysu is passionately driven by the desire not just to bring into fruition the vision of the current Inspector General Of Police, which is zero tolerance for crime and human rights abuses, but to ensure the Police Force have a credible and more friendly attitude toward the society.
