ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of former lawmaker, Sen. Ayodeji Otegbola, following his death.
Abiodun described Otegbola as a visionary politician and a dedicated community leader.
Otegbola, who served as the representative of Ogun West Senatorial District in the Red Chamber during the aborted Third Republic, died on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the age of 91.
Governor Abiodun, in a condolence message, eulogised the distinct virtues of the late Asiwaju of Aworiland, including his passion for community cohesion and development, adding that he exhibited the core values of a grassroots politician.
He added that Otegbola’s contributions to the development of Ogun State and Nigeria at large would remain indelible in the consciousness of the people for a very long time, as he prayed for the repose of his soul.
“Senator Ayo Otegbola exemplified the essence of a thought leader with a midas touch. As the Chairman of Federal Housing Authority between 2002 and 2004, he brought his deep experience in estate surveying to bear on the job, which accelerated housing schemes all over Nigeria , including the FCT.
“His legacies projects in Gwarinpa Housing Schemes and many others around the FCT can never be over-emphasized, he was indeed an achiever and great leader.
“We will sorely miss him in Ogun State and Nigeria at large. May God Almighty rest his soul and protect the lovely family he left behind”, Abiodun said.
