ABEOKUTA: The Chairman, Transition Committee, Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Michael Ayodeji Shomide has dispelled the rumour making round that he has banned all forms of transactions at the June 12 market.
According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Sobowale Adeolu, Information Officer, Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Shomide gave this charge while addressing the Iyalojas and Babalojas in his office at Ake, Abeokuta, adding that it was only through their cooperation and peace that the generality of the people, in the local government area, would be able to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
In a bid to clear the air on the rumors circulating about that Hon. Shomide however sued for peace in all the markets, within the local government area, while rallying support and cooperation of the market leaders with his administration.
Earlier, the Otun Iyalode of Egbaland, Alhaji Oluwaseyi Oloyede thanked the Chairman and members of his Transition Committee for their efforts at restoring peace in the local government area, promising the chairman of the readiness of all the traders to work with the Abeokuta South Local Government, in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
In his own remarks, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Nurudeen Ayorinde appealed to Iyalojas and Babalojas to re-orientate their members, on the need to take proactive measures against persistent annual flooding in Abeokuta, as well as the deadly disease called “Coronavirus”.
Present at the meeting were members of the Transition Committee and Principal Officers of the Local Government.
