“It is quite sad, unfortunate and disheartening that the Nigeria Customs Ogun Command 1 seems to be rewarding our hospitality as a host border Community with incessant and reckless killings of our people and therefore taken us for a ride. This must STOP.
The Oja Of Agosasa Kingdom stated further “News of the dastardly act by men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Command 1, Idiroko came to me on Saturday, March 28, 2020 with as a rude shock and I’m divaastated.
“We are peace loving Community and our lives are sacrosanct. The law enforcement agents within our Community must respect this and be cautious at all times.
“It is high time the Nigeria Customs Service retrains its Officers and men in the modern and globally accepted best practice of border control as done in other countries which value the life of their citizens as this shall be the last time the community will entertain such a barbaric act.
“There are better and more efficient ways to go about their statutory duties other than the use of force at every opportunity.“
Oba Elegbede however expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the family of Agbelade at this difficult moment.
“We mourn and enjoined them to accept the will of Almighty Allah who called his faithful servant back to the Creator. GOD KNOWS THE BEST.
“I also want to assure residents of Agosasa and its environs, most especially family of the deceased (Miss Sekinat Agbelade) that perpetrators of this criminal act would be brought to face the full wrath of the law as I, Oba James Oyebi Elegbede, the Oja Of Agosasa, Council of Chiefs and Ilu’s shall not sleep over it and a buoyant step shall be taken on this. ‘Enough is enough.”
The statement said, “Lastly, I wish to thank all the good people of Ipokia local Government, most especially, The Youth Forum of Ipokia L.G, The Pioneers Club of Ipokia Local Govt. and individuals for their press releases, messages and prayers for the deceased.
