Drama As Yewa Obas Demand Inclusion Of Yayi In Aspirants’ List Brought Before It By Ogun West APC Leaders

Two weeks ago, selected Ogun West APC leaders led by the Senatorial chairman Alhajj Fadairo and Senator Iyabo Anisulowo approached the Yewa traditional council to present the list of aspirants who have shown interest in aspiring to govern the state in 2019.
The Yewa traditional council which was chaired by the Olu of Ilaro and the paramount ruler of Yewaland received the selected APC leaders. Other notable traditional rulers present are the Eselu of Iselu, Olu of Imasayi, Onipokia of Ipokia whom we learnt was represented by the Adele Oba, Alaye of Aiyetoro and host of others.
The drama started when the Ogun West APC Senatorial chairman read out the list of the aspirants and omitted the name of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola aka YAYI.
The Eselu of Iselu got up immediately after Alhaji Fadairo finished reading the list and raised a very vital observation. He told the Senatorial chairman that a name is missing from the list of aspirants which ought to be there. The senatorial chairman replied by saying he’s not aware of any missing name and that all names mentioned are that of true yewa sons.
The Eselu immediately cautioned him that only the royal fathers and immediate people of the affected community could ascertain whether anyone is a true son of a particular town. At this point, the Eselu asked why the name of Yayi was omitted.
Before the Senatorial chairman could respond, the Eselu asked the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland a direct question. He asked the paramount ruler to lay to rest the issue of Yayi’s ancestral claims by telling the whole council of indeed Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi is true son of Yewaland.
The Olu of Ilaro & paramount ruler of Yewa answered emphatically, “Yes, He’s From Yewa”.
At this point, the Ogun West Senatorial chairman told the council that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi is yet to notify the leadership of the Senatorial district of his intentions to run. The Olu of Imasayi asked when and where others on the list have notified or declared their intention to run. A question no one could answer.
Senator Iyabo Anisulowo asked the traditional council to stick with the list and not allow an outsider to hijack the council. A statement that angered the whole traditional council which made her tender unreserved apology to the council.
The Yewa Traditional Council unanimously agreed and directed that the name of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola aka Yayi be included in the list of Ogun APC gubernatorial aspirants from Yewa before they could consider it for deliberation.
