ILARO: The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abidun has assured that the state 2020 budget would focus on the development and empowerment of people across the three senatorial district of the state.
Gov. Abiodun who made the submission during a town hall meeting on the 2020 budget and medium term expenditure framework (MTEF) 2020-2022 at Ogun West Senatorial District held at Yewa Frontier Hotel and Resort in ilaro, explained that government has put various programmes in place at improving the economic status of the state.
He said that the town hall meeting which started at Ogun East Senatorial district last week would be held in the three senatorial districts of the state to give the residents the opportunity to have input in the budget, while assuring that all issues and comments at the meeting would be giving consideration in the budget.
The Governor who noted that the town hall meeting would give the government the opportunity to evenly distribute the resources of the state accordingly, emphasized that Ogun West with the hosting of the meeting would soon start to experience positive changes as its remains key to the development of the state as its industrial hub.
The number one citizen of the state assured that the government is committed in providing employment for the youths, expanding the state’s economic base in the context of public-private partnership, reforming the machinery of government for good governance and reversing infrastructural deficits across all the 236 wards in the state.
He implored the residents of the state to support his government by being patient as efforts is ongoing at making the state more habitable with assurance to the people of Ogun West that his government would reconstruct Ilaro-Papalanto-Sagamu-Ikorodu road, and Abeokuta/Lagos Express road.
Earlier in his opening remark, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabintan implored people of the region to join hands with the government in its bid to transform the state.
Mr. Olabintan who maintained that a free flow of information between the government and the governed was crucial, stated that the feedback from all stakeholders would further enhance the socio-economic development of the state.
In his contributions, the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle enjoined sons and daughters of the region to at all times support the administration of Prince Abiodun as the state is experiencing different face lift.
The royal father commended the Governor for giving the State Hospital, Ilaro a new facelift within a short time of resuming in office as the state Governor, adding that the Governor has shown that he is a listening and people’s friendly Governor.
Oba Olugbenle while appreciating the good gesture of the Governor of including citizens of the state in the budget planing, urged the people of Ogun West to fully support the Governor’s effort at reviving the infrastructural decay of the area.
On her own, a member of the state House of Assembly representing Yewa South State constituency, Hon. Bola Ajayi, lauded the
Governor’s idea of giving the citizens of the state the opportunity to contribute in the budget planning of the state.
She said that she would support the budget through legislative backup whenever it is submitted to the State Assembly with a plea that Yewa South Local Government township roads should be considered in the budget.
Contributing, a former governorship candidate in the state, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka urged the state government to declare a state of emergency in the areas of road infrastructure across Ogun West, while calling on people of the region to continue to give Gov. Abiodun-led administration the necessary supports needed to transform the area.
