Woes Of Buhari’s Govt. Is Increasing, Secondus Laments, Says Current Hardship Worst Than During Civil War

By Raymond Osho
The major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed regret over President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration with argument that the current hardship in the country is worst than during the Civil war.

The Party lamented that the incessant killings in the country was on the increase and the number of lives that have lost was uncountable.

The PDP spoke on Tuesday August, 20, 2019 through the National Chairman, Mr Uche Secondus during a Unification Meeting at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The meeting witnessed the return of members of the party who, due to PDP’s internal crisis defected to other political parties in the past.

The returning members from different political parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Africa Action Congress (AAC) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) among others, repledged their loyalties and commitments to the party.

Secondus argued that the woes of Buhari’s government was growing wings everyday, insisting that the country is divided and Nigerians are being disgraced outside.

The Chairman who expressed worry over the high rate of insecurity said the reason why members of his party (PDP) must unite was because the APC’s government has failed Nigerians.

He questioned; “For how long are we going to be oppressed, for how long are we going to be intimidated, for how long are we going to be starved. There is so much hunger in the land than we had during the civil war. The number of people who have been killed is so much that we cannot count.

“Nigeria is divided, we are being disgraced outside the country. There is no state in Nigeria where killings are not happening because of bad government. We have to get united. If we don’t know, other countries’ are watching us.”

Secondus, having advocated for unity among members of the party, boasted that only the party’s Presidential candidate in last election, Atiku Abubakar could unite the Nigeria.

Atiku, though not present at the unification meeting which had in attended party’s bigwigs, addressed the gathering via a video clip he sent.

Giving the statistics of unemployed Nigerians, the former Presidential candidate said there are close to 16 million unemployed people in the country, this he said was more than what was recorded in 2014.

He added that 33 percent of them are women and young people, stressing that 70 percent of unemployed youths are uneducated and unskilled.

To have a Nigeria worthy of the younger generation, Atiku said Nigerians must get the country working again.

He maintained that he had been following the development in Ogun State and he can confirm that the party is indeed doing well for unification programme to bringing together all members of the family back home under one umbrella.

Speaking earlier, the factional Governorship candidate in the last election under the PDP in Ogun State, Hon. Ladi Adebutu in his welcome address stressed that to have a country like Nigeria, there must be a viable democracy. explaining that without democracy there cannot be successful Nigeria.
