OGUN POLICE RESCUES KIDNAPPED HEALTH WORKERS, FOUR OTHERS

Men of the Ogun State Police Command have rescued the three staff of Lafia Hospital Apata, Ibadan who were kidnapped in the Sate on July 23, 2019.

Apart from the three staff, four others were also rescued from the same hideout, totalling seven victims who were successfully rescued onJuly 27, 2019.

According to a release by the Command’s Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta, the State capital on Monday July 29, 2019 all the rescued victims have all been re-united with their families.

Abimbola said the Command, on July 23, received a report that the said members of staff had been kidnapped, following the report, the Command deployed high power security operatives to the scene of the incident with clear mandate to rescue the victims unhurt and bring the perpetrators to book.

According to him, “The team led by Deputy Commissioner of police in charge of operations embarked on technical and forensic investigation as a result of which the kidnappers’ hideout was geo-located within Fidiwo/Onigari forest along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”

The statement stated further, “To compliment the efforts of the Command, the Inspector General of Police graciously sent a police helicopter with which the area vie was properly surveyed”.

“Having located the hoodlums’ hideout, the place was smoked through the chopper, which left the hoodlums with no other alternatives than to hurriedly pushed out their victims from captivity.”

Oyeyemi revealed that the team later discovered that apart from the three persons abducted on July 23, another four persons were abducted on the 24 of the same month, but not reported.

His word: “The Command, during the heavy operation arrested a suspect who was believed to have taken part in the kidnap saga and he is currently assisting the police in investigation.

“To further rid the area of criminal activities, a comprehensive intelligence based raid was carried out in all the surrounding forests as well as the vulnerable points in the area where about 40 suspects were arrested with all sort of illicit drugs.”

Abimbola assured that the Command would not rest on its oars in order to ensure that crime and criminality become a thing of the past in the Ogun State.
