IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – The Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), Professor Jonathan Atungwu, has commended the Federal Government for its consistent efforts at sustaining quality assurance in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Prof. Atungwu made the remark on Thursday, February 5, 2026, while welcoming a delegation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on an official accreditation visit to the college.
According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l Magazine by the Head of the College’s Media and Communication Department, Mrs. Wilson Oyekemi, the Provost expressed appreciation to the NBTE and the resource persons for the visit, describing the exercise as significant to the growth and development of the institution.
He highlighted the history and achievements of the college, reiterating its unwavering commitment to academic excellence, quality training and adherence to established standards.
Prof. Atungwu subsequently directed the Director of Academic and Strategy Planning to guide members of the accreditation team through relevant departments and facilities.
Responding on behalf of the team, the Accreditation Team Leader, Professor Halidu Shaidu, thanked the college management for the warm reception accorded the delegation.
He urged Heads of Departments to clearly present their needs and requirements to ensure a smooth and productive accreditation process, emphasizing that the exercise was aimed at strengthening institutional capacity rather than fault-finding.
Also speaking, the Zonal Director, Mr. Adelakun Tajudeen Aderemi, advised staff members to remain cooperative throughout the exercise, assuring them of the NBTE team’s support in enhancing students’ training, learning outcomes and overall academic quality.
The visit, which focused on evaluating academic programmes and facilities in the Departments of Science and Laboratory Technology and Agribusiness, also involved inspection of infrastructure, staff strength, curriculum, students’ learning environment and general compliance with NBTE standards to further promote quality assurance in technical and vocational education.
The NBTE delegation was led by the Executive Secretary of NBTE, Professor Idris Bugaje, who was represented by the Zonal Director, Mr. Adelakun Tajudeen Aderemi.

The Accreditation Team Leader was Professor Halidu Shaidu, with other members including Dr. Shuaibu G. Adamu, Engr. Suleiman Muhammad and Mr. Nulu Hassan.
Resource persons from The Polytechnic, Ibadan, were also part of the team. They included Dr. Bola Oseni, Chief Lecturer and Chairman, Committee of Deans and Dean, Faculty of Science; Mr. I. B. Adeyemi, Senior Lecturer; Mr. Kolawole, Senior Lecturer and Mrs. Siyanbola Mojisola.
Members of the college management present at the event included the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. Musiliu O. Adenekan; Deputy Provost (Academics), Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Okpeze; the Registrar, Mr. Abass Abimbade, represented by Mrs. Olanike Popoola; and the Head of Bursary, Mrs. Theresa Adeoye.
Others were the Dean, School of Agriculture, Dr. Modupe Sodamola; Director, Academic and Strategy Planning, Dr. Olufemi Ayanfeoluwa; Head of Library, Dr. (Mrs.) Mojisola Osunkoya; Head of Department, Agribusiness, Dr. (Mrs.) B. F. Fato; and Head of Department, Science and Laboratory Technology, Dr. Oluwafemi Adedire.
The NBTE team was later conducted round key departments and facilities of the college for detailed inspection and assessment.
