ABUJA, NIGERIA – A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Oladele, has reassured stakeholders in Ogun West Senatorial District that the zone will not produce multiple governorship candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Against the backdrop of intensifying political consultations, Oladele said Ogun West would remain united and deliberate in its political strategy, noting that only a credible and winnable candidate with broad acceptance across the state would receive the backing of stakeholders in the district.
He stressed that unity is key to enhancing Ogun West’s political relevance and strengthening its bargaining position within the APC.
“Our objective is to deliver the senatorial district for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and to produce the next Governor of Ogun State with an overwhelming margin of victory, unprecedented in the history of gubernatorial elections in the state”, he stated.
Responding to questions on whether Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, fits the criteria he outlined, Oladele who was answering questions from journalistss recently said the realities on ground clearly support the lawmaker’s suitability, beyond personal sentiments.
He noted that Senator Adeola’s political structure, electoral strength, and wide grassroots presence across Ogun State place him in a strong position within the party.
While reiterating that the final decision rests with the APC and its stakeholders, Oladele acknowledged that Senator Adeola remains a popular choice.
He also urged political leaders and stakeholders in Ogun West to place collective interest above individual ambition, adding that consultations were ongoing to ensure unity and cohesion ahead of the 2027 elections.
