FCA IBADAN PROVOST ASSURES STUDENTS OF DEDICATED SUPPORT, ANNOUNCES FULL SCHOLARSHIP AT PART-TIME MATRICULATION (+photos)

IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – The Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), Prof. Jonathan Atungwu, has assured students that the institution is staffed with competent and dedicated personnel who are readily available to support them throughout their academic journey.

According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l Magazine by the Head of the College’s Media and Communication Department, Mrs. Wilson Oyekemi, Prof. Atungwu made this known on Friday, January 23, 2026, during his opening address at the 2025/2026 Matriculation Ceremony for newly admitted part-time students.

Declaring the ceremony open, the Provost described the occasion as a significant milestone for both the institution and the newly admitted students. He warmly welcomed the freshers and congratulated them for choosing the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan – fondly described as “the first and the best” – for their Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.

Prof. Atungwu disclosed that while reviewing the aggregate scores alongside the Dean of Student Affairs, he observed an outstanding performance by Davis Phillip Obanijesu, a full-time student who scored 298 and secured admission to study Science Laboratory Technology in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In recognition of this outstanding achievement, he announced that the student would be awarded a full scholarship under the part-time programme, noting that the feat further underscores the College’s academic strength and growing reputation.

The Provost reiterated that FCAIB remains a centre of excellence committed to both academic and moral development.

He urged the students to remain disciplined, manage their time effectively, adhere strictly to College regulations, and strive for academic excellence.

Prof. Atungwu also expressed appreciation to the Management of Taghini Foods Limited, particularly Mr. Peter Shonibare and Ms. Uzomaka Veronica, for their sustained partnership with the College.

Prof. Atungwu noted that the organization provides Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) opportunities in animal production, including stipends, accommodation, and possible employment after graduation.

The ceremony formally inducted fresh part-time students into the academic community of the College and attracted members of Management, staff, and other stakeholders.

Presided over by the Provost, the event was attended by principal officers of the College, including the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. Musiliu Adenekan; Deputy Provost (Academics), Dr. (Mrs) Victoria Okpeze; the College Registrar, Mr. Abimbade Abass, represented by Mrs. Olanike A. Popoola; the Director of Bursary, Mrs. Theresa Adeoye; the Director of Audit, Mr. Olakunle Karunwi and the Head of Library, Dr. (Mrs) Mojisola Y. Osunkoya.

Also present were the Deans of Schools, including the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. (Mrs) Adenike Komolafe; Dean, School of Vocational Studies and Agricultural Extension, Dr. Adebayo Adeniran; Dean, School of Applied Sciences, Dr. Oluwafemi Adedire; Dean, School of General Studies and Media Technology, Dr. (Mrs) Abosede Alabi; and the Dean of Part-Time Programmes, Dr. Anthony Omoyajowo. Heads of Departments, Directors, Heads of Units and representatives of the Agba Outreach Centre were equally in attendance.

The highlight of the ceremony was the administration of the matriculation oath, formally inducting the students into the College community.

The Provost thereafter officially declared the 2025/2026 Part-Time Matriculation Ceremony closed, bringing the event to a successful and memorable conclusion.
