OTA, ADO-ODO/OTA LG, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly of Nigeria, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the development of Ota-Awori, describing the area as a rapidly urbanising and industrial hub deserving of commensurate infrastructure and social investments.

Senator Adeola stated this on Saturday, December 20, 2025, while speaking at the Grand Finale of the annual Iganmode Cultural Festival held in Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

He noted that the fast-paced urban growth and industrial expansion of Ota-Awori make sustained investments in critical infrastructure imperative, particularly in road construction, solar street lighting, healthcare delivery and energy-related projects.

According to Senator Adeola, Ado-Odo/Ota LGA has been a major beneficiary of his legislative interventions, with projects deliberately tailored to meet its unique developmental needs.

He disclosed that within just over two years, he has facilitated the completion of about 300 infrastructure projects across his senatorial district.

These, he said, include over 115 road construction projects, 30 school buildings, 32 primary healthcare centres, 25 modern markets, 13 town halls, 10 ICT centres, two intensive care units, two libraries and eight police stations.

He also cited the donation and installation of over 200 electric transformers, 250 solar streetlight projects comprising about 26,000 poles, as well as personal intervention in the repair and upgrade of 10 major electricity infrastructures affecting about 100 communities.

“Work has since started on these repairs and upgrades, and Ado-Odo/Ota LGA is a beneficiary”, he added.

Senator Adeola further revealed that over 50,000 constituents have been empowered through skill acquisition programmes, equipment support and cash grants.

He said 15,000 market men and women received grants ranging from ₦25,000 to ₦50,000, while about 6,000 farmers benefited from farm inputs and machinery, including tractors.

In the education sector, the senator disclosed that more than 4,500 tertiary institution students have benefited from scholarships and bursaries ranging between ₦100,000 and ₦200,000, while over 1,000 secondary school students received laptops through his education support initiatives.

Senator Adeola Yayi commended the Olota of Ota-Awori, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege, for promoting cultural renaissance and peaceful community development.

He stressed that if properly harnessed and packaged, cultural festivals such as Iganmode would serve as catalysts for tourism growth and broader socio-economic development.

Senator Adeola Yayi also praised Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for supporting tourism through the promotion of cultural festivals across the state, including Ojude Oba, Oronna Ilaro, Lisabi, Iganmode and Akesan Day celebrations.

He attributed the state’s relative peace and reduced criminal activities to the governor’s proactive security policies.

Commending ongoing road, hospital and education projects across the state, Senator Adeola Yayi described the Gateway Cargo Airport at Iperu-Remo as a flagship initiative that underscored the administration’s development vision.

Reaffirming his alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Senator Adeola pledged to continue complementing Governor Abiodun’s efforts in the interest of the people of Ogun West and the state at large.

“Let me place it on record that my development projects in Ado-Odo/Ota LGA are proportionate to its rapidly urbanising and industrial status.

“I will continue to support cultural development that encourages tourism and ultimately drives socio-economic growth, while complementing the good works of our dear governor in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda”, Senator Adeola Yayi added.
