ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, as well as Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR, has appealed to the Ogun State Government to assume full ownership and responsibility for all public schools, beginning with the fencing of school premises to enhance security and prevent encroachment.

According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l Magazine and its online platform by ‘Deola Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the Paramount Ruler on Media and Strategic Communications, Oba Olugbenle made the call on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, while delivering his address at the 45th Biennial State Congress of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPPS), hosted by the Yewa/Awori axis of Ogun State.

The 45th ANCOPPS Congress, themed: “Implementation of the Digital Technological Revolution in Ogun State Secondary Schools: Prospects and Challenges”, was held between Wednesday, December 17 and Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.

The monarch observed that there have been numerous cases of encroachment on the land and property of many primary, secondary and even tertiary institutions, a situation he noted poses security threats and disrupts students’ concentration in the affected schools.

He therefore urged the government to urgently address land encroachment on public property, not limited to educational institutions alone.

Oba Olugbenle also used the occasion to commend principals, head-teachers and teachers for their critical roles in nurturing and grooming the next generation of leaders.

He further applauded Ogun State Governor, Prince ‘Dapo Abiodun, for holding teachers in high esteem by prioritising their welfare, particularly that of retired teachers across the state.

The congress was graced by several dignitaries, including the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu; the Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede; and the Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Apostle ’Biodun Sanyaolu.

Other Royal Fathers present alongside Oba Olugbenle included Oba (Engr.) Olukunle Olalowo, the Alademeso of Igan-Alade-Yewa; Oba (Rev.) Dr. Matthew O. Akindele, the Olu of Owode-Yewa; Oba Bisiriyu Kehinde Oyero, the Onijale of Ijale-Ketu-Yewa; Oba James Igbowu, the Opo of Idosemo-Yewa; Oba Gabriel Ogunji, the Onijoun of Ijoun-Yewa; and Oba Sikiru Adewale, the Alaye of Oniro-Agude-Yewa, among other dignitaries.

In another development, Oba Olugbenle received a delegation of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria, led by the Amir, Alhaji Alaloye Folorunso Azeez, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

The delegation briefed the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland on the forthcoming 71st Jalsa Salana (Annual National Conference), scheduled to hold between Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.

The Amir expressed appreciation to Oba Olugbenle for his exemplary leadership and consistent support for the Jamaat, noting that the successful hosting of the conference was largely made possible by the prevailing peace in Ilaro-Yewa.

Members of the delegation included Sheikh (Imam) Mustapha Adewunmi, Chief Imam of Ilaro-Yewa; Engr. Kazeem Oluwa, Chairman, National Convention Committee; Comrade Jabar Ayelaagbe, National General Secretary; Al-Hafiz AbdulRafiq Alaka, President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Organisation of Nigeria; and Hajia Suwebat Odeyemi, National President, Ahmadiyya Muslim Women Organisation of Nigeria, among others.

Also on the same day, Oba Olugbenle received members of the Yoruba Nurses of North America (YNONA), an association of Yoruba nurses resident in North America.

Founded two years ago in Ile-Ife by Professor Modupe Aka-Bashorun Adebayo, the association is currently undertaking a free medical outreach across Ogun State, with the Ilaro-Yewa edition held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

In his response, the Paramount Ruler expressed appreciation to the group for choosing Ilaro-Yewa as one of their outreach destinations and commended their passion for giving back to their homeland.

He offered prayers for the continued success of their humanitarian interventions and wished them journey mercies as they proceed to other towns in Ogun State.

The monarch rounded off the day’s engagements by receiving the Jyreh Foundation.

The foundation, established by Mr. Oluwaseyi Ogunbiyi, is presently executing a food drive aimed at feeding 1,000 families, and the visit was to pay homage and brief His Majesty on the progress of the initiative.

Observers noted that, through sustained inclusive engagement and strategic partnerships, Oba Olugbenle continues to project Yewaland as an emerging hub of development and growing global relevance.
