Ogun Govt Denies Stopping Senator Gbenga Daniel’s Projects Out Of Spite

ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Ogun State Government has dismissed claims that it halted constituency projects initiated by Senator Gbenga Daniel of Ogun East out of political hostility, insisting that the affected projects were stopped solely because they failed to meet required standards.

In a statement issued on Monday, December 1, 2025, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, the government explained that several of the projects were found to be substandard and inconsistent with Federal Government specifications.

It stressed that the state has a constitutional responsibility to ensure that all construction works meet approved standards.

According to the statement, contractors handling non-compliant projects were asked to present approved specifications and drawings for the road contracts awarded to them.

This requirement, the government noted, would enable the Ogun State Ministry of Works to effectively monitor and supervise the projects.

The statement added that contractors who complied with the directive have since been cleared to continue work, while an engineer from the state’s Ministry of Works has been assigned to routinely supervise the projects to ensure full compliance with all specifications.
