Oba Olugbenle Reaffirms Commitment To Supporting Alma Mater At 70th Anniversary Celebration (+photos)

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR, Asade Agunloye IV, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, has reiterated his dedication to partnering with his alma mater to further its developmental goals and uphold its tradition of educational excellence.

The Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas made this known on Saturday, November 29, 2025, during the grand finale of the 70th Anniversary Celebration of Anglican Modern/Grammar School, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.

In a statement e-signed and released to StarTrend Int’l Magazine and online platform by ‘Deola Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the Paramount Ruler on Media and Strategic Communications, Oba Olugbenle expressed deep joy at celebrating with the institution where he once studied.

The monarch commended the school for its enduring legacy of academic distinction and moral discipline.

He extended hearty congratulations to Anglican Grammar School, Ilaro, and its old students on seven decades of remarkable achievements and impact.

It will be recalled that Anglican Modern/Grammar School, Ilaro-Yewa Old Students Association has successfully commemorated the institution’s 70th anniversary with a vibrant, week-long series of events filled with colour, nostalgia, and community pride.

The celebration commenced on Thursday, November 27, 2025, with a lively roadshow that saw students and alumni singing and dancing across major streets in Ilaro-Yewa. The opening day also featured an engaging quiz competition for students of the school.

On Friday, November 28, 2025, the activities moved to the Ilaro Central Mosque, where a Jumat Service was held. Later in the day, a friendly football match took place between members of the Old Students Association and current students, adding excitement and friendly rivalry to the festivities.

A grand reunion party followed on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the school’s playing field, where a popular musician thrilled attendees with electrifying juju music.

The week-long celebration concluded on Sunday, November 30, 2025, with a Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Onala Quarters, Ilaro-Yewa.

The Principal, Mrs. Aderinwale Mary Alaba, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God, Oba Olugbenle, the Old Students Association, staff, and students for their support in making the anniversary memorable and impactful.
