ABUJA, NIGERIA – Hon. Kayode Oladele, Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), has extended warm congratulations to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), the senator representing Ogun West, on his conferment with the prestigious Fellowship Award (FYCT) by the Senate and Management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH).
In a statement personally signed by him, Hon. Oladele described the award as a clear testament to Senator Adeola’s unwavering commitment to advancing education and empowering the youth.
He noted that YABATECH – widely regarded as the doyen of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions – has, through this honour, affirmed Yayi’s dedication to national development.
Hon. Oladele emphasized that Senator Adeola has shown uncommon passion on the floor of the National Assembly, championing legislative efforts toward upgrading YABATECH and the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (FPI), into full-fledged Universities of Technology.
“Today, his dreams and aspirations have been largely fulfilled. FPI has been transmuted into a substantive university, while YABATECH’s transformation awaits presidential assent”, he said.
He further highlighted the senator’s commitment to educational advancement through his annual scholarship and bursary schemes for Yewa students across tertiary institutions nationwide.
According to Hon. Oladele, these initiatives have significantly boosted human capacity development, while combating illiteracy and poverty in Ogun West.
“Our people have affirmed that his resilience in this regard has touched every family and positively transformed various communities in Ogun West Senatorial District”, Oladele stated.
Describing himself as an unapologetic apostle of Yayi’s social liberation movement, Hon. Oladele expressed gratitude to the Senate and Management of YABATECH for honouring a “political icon.”
