Senator Adeola Yayi Mourns Death Of Chief Musbau Ayinde “Baba Obanla,” Describes Him As A Personal and Irreplaceable Loss

ABUJA, NIGERIA – Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, representing Ogun West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has received with deep shock and sadness the news of the death of Chief Musbau Ayinde Olayiwola Obanla, popularly known as Baba Obanla.

The revered community icon and prominent political leader from Ipokia in Ipokia local government area of Ogun State died in the early hours of Friday, November 21, 2025, after a brief illness, at the age of 80.

In his condolence message to the Obanla family, Senator Adeola Yayi expressed profound grief, noting that the death of Baba Obanla “is a personal loss, not only to me as the Senator of Ogun West Senatorial District, but indeed a great loss to the good people of Ipokia Local Government, Ogun West, and the entire Ogun State, where he served as a committed and active member of the Elders Council.”

The Senator further emphasized that “Baba Obanla was totally committed to my political aspiration during his lifetime”, recalling his unwavering loyalty and support.

Senator Adeola also commended the late political stalwart’s remarkable service to Ogun State and Nigeria.

Baba Obanla held several significant positions during his lifetime, including Ipokia District Council Officer-in-Charge of Education, Purchasing Manager at West Africa Portland Cement Company Ltd, pioneer Administrative Manager of Portland Transport, Sagamu, Vice Chairman of Ipokia Local Government (2004), and Chairman of the Ipokia Council Transition Committee.

Until his death, Baba Obanla was a member of the Governing Council of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, and a respected member of the Ogun State Elders Advisory Council, appointed by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Senator Adeola prayed for the peaceful repose of Baba Obanla’s soul and asked God to grant the family the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss of their beloved patriarch. *_#LOYAMP_*
