ABIGI, OGUN EAST, NIGERIA – Muslim faithful and lovers of God have been urged to support the Abigi Muslim community in the renovation of the ancient Ese-Ebute Central Mosque – a historic worship centre in Abigi, Ijebu Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State, now in urgent need of repair.
In a statement e-signed by Chief Olajide Sarayi and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine and online platform, Oba (Barr.) Olusegun Ogunye, the Ilufemiloye of Abigi Kingdom, appealed for prayers and financial contributions toward restoring the mosque, describing it as a sacred heritage that must not be allowed to deteriorate.
The monarch prayed that God would reward all donors abundantly for their generosity and urged the Muslim community in Abigi to maintain peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths.
Delivering a Jumat lecture at the mosque, the Chief Imam, Sheikh Alhaji Balogun Musiliu, stressed the urgent need for moral and financial assistance, explaining that the mosque structure was in dire condition.
He noted that while the congregation had made efforts to raise funds, the amount gathered so far remained insufficient to carry out the needed renovations.
Chief Olajide Sarayi, Chairman of the Mosque Project Planning Committee, disclosed that the over-200-year-old mosque requires about ₦50 million to complete the renovation.
“This amount is vital to ensure the mosque remains safe and functional for prayers and community activities”, Chief Sarayi said.

Sarayi, who is also the Chairman and CEO of Center Point Travel Agency, Ibadan, appealed to Muslims and benevolent individuals globally to support the cause.
“We need the collective effort of the Muslim Ummah and all lovers of God to prevent this historic mosque from total collapse”, he emphasized.
