IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – Monday, November 3, 2025 – The Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB), on Monday, November 3, 2025, held the Technical Bids Opening (Selective Tendering) for its 2025 Capital Projects at the College Boardroom.
According to a statement e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l Magazine and Online Platform by Wilson Oyekemi, Head, Public Relations Unit of the College, the event, organized by the College Tender Board, was conducted in strict compliance with the provisions of the Public Procurement Act of 2007.
In attendance were members of the College Management and Procurement Committees, including the Provost, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu; Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. Musiliu O. Adenekan; Deputy Provost (Academic), Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria E. Okpeze; Registrar’s Representative, Mrs. Olanike A. Popoola; Director of Audit, Mr. K. M. Karunwi; Head of Bursary, Mrs. Theresa Adeoye; College Librarian, Mrs. Mojisola Osunkoya; Dean, School of Engineering, Engr. Dr. Titus Ilori; and other senior staff members, including Engr. J. A. Adebisi and Engr. J. A. Ijadunola
In his opening remarks, the Provost, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, welcomed all attendees and expressed appreciation to the Tender Board members, Procurement Committee, and all bidders present.
He stated that the exercise reflects FCAIB’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process.
Prof. Atungwu further emphasized that the bid opening marks another important step toward ensuring that College projects and infrastructural developments are executed with integrity, fairness, and in accordance with the Public Procurement Act of 2007.
He admonished all bidders to maintain ethical conduct throughout the process, stressing that integrity and professionalism must guide all interactions.
The Provost also commended the Procurement Unit for their dedication and strict adherence to due process.
The event was anchored by the Head of the Procurement Unit, Engr. Oluwaseun Akinyele, who welcomed participants and observers.
He noted that our of Forty-Five (45) invited bidders, thirty-one (31) successfully submitted their proposals.
The bids opening exercise involved the inspection, sorting, and official opening of submitted tenders, followed by the signing of the bidders’ register.
The Thirty-One (31) bids were opened under seven (7) major project categories, namely:
- Purchase of vehicles for College use
- Development of human capacity in agricultural services
- Development of College demonstration livestock and crop farms, and provision of farm implements
- Development of College Agricultural Outreach Centres
- Accreditation and re-accreditation of ND and HND programmes
- Vocational training of unemployed youths, women, and retirees in arable organic crop production and livestock rearing
- Purchase of office furniture and fittings for the College.
In his closing remarks, the Provost, Prof. Atungwu, commended all members of the College Management Team, the Tender Board Committee, the Head and staff of the Procurement Unit, and other staff involved in the exercise for their commitment and professionalism.
He assured that the College would conduct a thorough evaluation process to ensure that only qualified contractors are selected for the execution of the 2025 capital projects.
The Provost also expressed appreciation to all participating bidders and wished them a safe journey back to their respective destinations.
Present as observers at the event were the Executive Director of Life Builders (NGO); and a representative of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The 2025 Technical Bids Opening marks another significant milestone in FCAIB’s continuous pursuit of infrastructural development, transparency, and sustainable institutional growth.
