IBADAN, OYO STATE, NIGERIA – Children and grandchildren of Evangelist (Chief) Dr. Daniel Olukunmi Idowu, JP, NJP, fondly called Eketa-Omo and former presenter of S’oda Bee at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), celebrated his 90th birthday on Monday, September 22, 2025.
The two-in-one celebration commenced with a Birthday Thanksgiving Service at Saint Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan, Oyo State.
In his sermon, the Provost of the Cathedral, The Very Rev’d S.K. Olawoyin, anchored his message on Isaiah 46:4, which says: “Even to your old age I am He, and even to your gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.”
He emphasized that the passage is a divine assurance of God’s unwavering support, guidance and deliverance from youth to old age.
Rev’d Olawoyin further drew from Psalm 90:12, urging the congregation to live with wisdom, purpose, and eternal significance.
He reminded the celebrant and all present that birthdays mark the passage of time and the need for intentional living.
The cleric described Chief Idowu as a man of the people who has faithfully served humanity in diverse capacities, adding that he has “paid his dues to society.”
He congratulated him on attaining 90 years of age and commended his children and grandchildren for organizing a befitting celebration in his honour.
Special prayers were offered for the celebrant, his family, and all well-wishers.
Following the service, the celebration moved to the Ibadan Civic Center, Agodi GRA, Ibadan, where a grand reception was held in honour of Chief Idowu.
Family, friends, and dignitaries joined to celebrate the nonagenarian’s remarkable life and legacy
