ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, has sponsored a far-reaching “Drug Free Dreams” sensitization campaign across selected secondary schools in Ilaro-Yewa.
The initiative, held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, underscored the monarch’s enduring commitment to youth development and moral reawakening.
According to a release e-signed and shared with StarTrend Int’l Magazine and Online Platform by ‘Deola Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the Paramount Ruler on Media and Strategic Communications, the campaign was anchored by Queen Kanyinsola Akinwande, the current Sisi Ilaro.
It is aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse while inspiring young students to pursue their dreams with discipline, purpose, and resilience.
Representing Oba Olugbenle at the event, Chief (Mrs.) Oluyemisi Oloyo, the Iya-Ewe of Ilaro-Yewa, emphasized that “the future of the land rests on the shoulders of our young ones, and it becomes our duty to guide them away from destructive habits that can rob them of destiny.”
The sensitization sessions, facilitated by Dr. Tajudeen Jimoh and Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Ajibade, focused on the importance of a drug-free lifestyle as a cornerstone for personal growth, academic excellence, and community progress.
Also joining the campaign were several notable figures including Chief (Mrs.) Adewunmi, Yeye Oge of Ilaro-Yewa; Chief (Mrs.) Adunni Onifade, Otun Iya-Ewe of Ilaro-Yewa; Comrade Yinus Fatai, Public Relations Officer of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Ogun State Chapter) and Comrade Faruq Tella, National President of the National Association of Yewa Students (NAYES).
The campaign concluded with a courtesy visit to the Yewa South Local Government Secretariat, where the delegation was warmly received by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Bankole, and the Secretary to the Local Government, Comrade Abduljabar Ayelaagbe.
This noble effort reflected the unwavering commitment of Oba (Dr.) Kehinde Olugbenle, to nurturing a morally upright and visionary generation in Ilaro and Yewaland.
The campaign’s resounding message remains clear – a drug-free generation is possible, and it begins with the choices our students make today.
