IBADAN, OYO SATE, NIGERIA – The Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) chapter of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), under the leadership of its chairman, Comrade Adeniyi Faleti, has paid a courtesy visit to Oloye Lekan Alabi, the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland designate, as he prepares to mark his 75th birthday.

During the visit, Comrade Faleti explained that the union’s executives considered it necessary to honour Baba Alabi ahead of his forthcoming three-in-one celebration on October 1st, which will feature his 75th birthday, his elevation from Maye Olubadan to Abese Olubadan, and the public presentation of a book written in his honour.

He described Baba Alabi as a consistent supporter of RATTAWU and a passionate promoter of the media industry in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.

In his response, Baba Alabi expressed deep appreciation for the goodwill visit, describing it as both touching and memorable.

Comrade Faleti recalled with fondness his long association with the BCOS RATTAWU Multipurpose Hall, the chosen venue for his milestone celebration, having witnessed both its foundation and official commissioning.

He further noted that celebrating his 75th birthday at the hall was particularly symbolic, given the presence of distinguished personalities such as RATTAWU’s national president, Prince Emeka Kalu (Magic Fingers), Mr. Taofeek Adegboyega, Oriyomi Amzat, and BCOS chairperson, Mrs. Dotun Olaitan, among others, during its commissioning.

Explaining why he chose the hall for his birthday celebration, Baba Alabi cited its central location and conducive environment, qualities he believes reflect the values of unity and progress he stands for.

He thanked RATTAWU for their continuous support and encouraged the union’s leadership to build enduring legacies that would uplift both the union and the media profession for generations to come.
